i was a jw but left about 8 years ago, my husband wanted to go back so we have tried, i did not do so good.
being gone so long just helped me realize this is totally false, i look at the jws as lambs being lead to their deaths.. fast forward to now, we are both in our 40s and i have had medical side effects from using birth control and other meds as birth control.
my body can not take anymore, i have suffered breast cyst and uterus cyst, so i asked my husband who has an issue with using condoms because he does not reach a climax, and has to masturbate, to use something that would offer us a permanent result such as him getting a vasectomy.. his reaction is like why i feel even more strongly that jws are wrong.
Witnesses do teach that you can't get a vasectomy unless the life of the woman would be put in danger from pregnancy. They used to teach that sterilization was mutilation of the body.
It sounds like your health is in jeapordy, so he doesn't have a reason, even in jw land. The other issues are just, well, creepy. Something is really wrong with your husband. There is mental abuse already, maybe the potential for physical abuse?
Think seriously about what is best for you and your children.

i just wat to inform you that i have from absolutely trustworthy sources that rolf furuli (one of the absolutely best known and most recpected elders in norway, and altso a scolar known as a hard core 607-apologist among opposers) did have a local needs speech last week (or maybe the week before) where he went directly against the watchtower anti college education pollicy and warmly recomended all the young ones in the congregation to go on and get them self educated.. i wonder for how long ha can keep his position??
if he gets the boot wee'll se a theocratic earthquake here in norway..
There seem to be many witnesses in this area who attend university. I know of one who is starting medical school and another entering graduate school. They don't seem to be catching any flack.
Maybe it's the difference in congregation elders. Interesting to have a well known elder go against the society's stand on the podium. Thanks for posting this.

i took that huge plastic bin that contained multiple copies of all the books given out by the society, all the old wt and awake's that i had, the year books, etc..... and threw into the city dump.
my boyfriend thought i should maybe bring the literature back to them and i said "hell no.... so they can give it out to more innocent people.. he agreed.
I wish I would have kept some older publications for reference sometimes. It was really taking over the house after decades of bound volumes.

I am on a cocktail of drugs too, but not a whole lot of help there. I guess they keep me from deciding to go to sleep and not wake up, although I must admit it is tempting at times.
I've tried Embrel, on Humira now. No help there yet. Looking into possible chemo for a while. A last resort, but useful for some with R.A.
I know what you mean about sheer exhaustion too. Sometimes, it feels like my body just doesn't make energy anymore. Rest doesn't seem to replenish any energy either.
I took care of a lot of people with chronic diseases, but I never really knew what it was like to endure them. It did make me be still and miss meetings which started me down the long road of thinking about life and leaving the jws. No longer could believe in the fairy tale and I found their answer for suffering so unsatisfying.
Trying to think of something good that has come out of all of this.
i recall reading some of freud and whilst some of it seemed far fetched in the extreme other parts seemed ugly and reality!.
i have a puzzle i'm pondering: i'm annoyed with myself because i cannot concisely and succinctly pose the question in a cryptic fashion but here goes-.

I do think circumstances or disavantages in life can drive a person to behave in ways they might not otherwise. We all have basic needs and when they are not met for long periods of time, desperation sets in.
I don't think any of us know to what extent we would go if placed in various extreme situations. Is it evil that drives such behavior or just desperation? I would say the latter, desparation.

I'm not trying to be difficult or judgmental with you. I just don't understand what complications you are talking about. I do believe that nature/nurture affects all of us in many ways. Some get a much better foundation genetically and emotionally through love shown to them.
You give the example of a mother choosing to abort a child, so I'll run with that. There are many pressures and often a total lack of support that may drive a woman to abort her child or she may do it strictly because of inconvenience. I knew a woman once who aborted her child because it interfered with a planned vacation. I am not anyone's judge.
Is that spiritual or biological?
once again i'm in a philosophical mood: .
we spend our time in avoiding death as though the absence of being was our primary reason or motivator and yet our mere existence is clearly not fulfilling in and of itself (for a nightmare example ask yourself- would you rather die or live in a fully conscious state but be totally paralysed and unable to communicate.
if existence alone is not enough yet we will give almost anything to continue to exist what is it that we are actually aiming for?

Thanks for the reply and the videos. The funks can get pretty low, part of what I was talking about. It must be difficult with both of you being disabled. I'm constantly working on the acceptance part of it. I was always very physically active and I hate it when people look at you like you're just lazy because you can't muster up an ounce of energy.

Sounds like you find ways to keep going in spite of your limitations. I love to be outdoors also. You mention pain and that is my biggest limitation. Pain meds don't help a lot. Sometimes it is just hard to enjoy anything you do when the pain levels are extreme. I miss working too.
